Howard A. Spier - Throughout most of his 24-year legal career, Howard A. Spier has concentrated his practice in the areas of railroad and personal injury litigation. He has litigated numerous cases in both state and federal courts in Florida and throughout the Southeast.
Before joining Rossman, Baumberger & Reboso in 1996, he was a partner for several years in area litigation firms representing injured railroad workers. He became a name partner in Rossman Baumberger Reboso & Spier in 2003.
In his practice, Howard has been invited to speak to many of the nation's railway worker groups concerning their legal rights in such areas as employee injuries, safe work environment, insurance and disability matters and governmental regulations pertaining to the railroad industry. He has also attended and sponsored numerous seminars for railway workers across the country.
Howard entered the law profession after a brief venture into the field of public administration, serving as Town Manager of Fallsburg, N.Y. However, he decided that law was his life choice. He moved to South Florida in 1981 and shortly thereafter became associated with the firm of Hastings & Goldman, where he principally handled railroad litigation cases. Howard received his B.A. degree in 1974 from the University of Massachusetts, where he played on the varsity soccer team. He earned his law degree from Albany Law School in New York, where he was a founding member of the school's Moot Court Board.
Howard is a member of the board of directors for the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys, an organization consisting of a number of attorneys across the nation who handle railroad injury cases. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He was ranked by his peers among the region's top lawyers in the South Florida Legal Guide.
