MIAMI, FL—A South Florida worker’s arm was severed "about mid-wrist below his elbow" in an unfortunate on-the-job accident that occurred at a North Lauderdale sewage pumping station. According to information provided by the South Florida Sun Sentinel, North Lauderdale spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson said the victim—an unidentified man in his 40s—was airlifted to a Broward County hospital for treatment of his on-the-job injury.

Reports indicated a male worker employed by Butler National Services Inc. in Fort Lauderdale was working at North Lauderdale’s Hampton Pines Park wastewater pumping station—located at 7800 Hamptons Boulevard—when somehow his arm was severed. Although details concerning the workplace accident itself remained scarce, city spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson told reporters the injured worker was transported to North Broward Medical Center for treatment.

As of Jan. 25, a representative at Butler National Services—a subsidy of Kanas-based Butler National Corporation— was unaware of the injured worker’s condition.

Officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are expected to con.duct a full probe into the horrific South Florida workplace accident.
