MIAMI, FL—Three people, including a
Florida Highway Patrol trooper, were rushed to area hospitals following a violent
cruiser crash that occurred along
Florida’s Turnpike on the morning of Feb. 7. According to information provided by NBC Miami, the
Florida Turnpike accident occurred as the FHP officer was conducting a traffic stop in close proximity to Northwest 41st Street in Northwest Miami-Dade.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue authorities told reporters an unidentified
FHP trooper was conducting a traffic stop in the northbound emergency lane of the
Florida Turnpike when, for unknown reasons, two cars were unable to avoid a
collision with his cruiser. It appears the two unspecified vehicles slammed into the
patrol car from the rear.
Responding paramedics rushed two unidentified
crash victims, as well as the
injured highway patrol trooper, to area hospitals following the
Miami crash. The extent of injuries sustained in the
Florida Turnpike accident remained unclear.
A full investigation into the
cruiser crash was expected to be underway.
